Our Teachers
Ms. Sarah
Lead teacher, room 1
Ms. Pemly
Director & room 2 lead teacher
Ms. Sarah joined the staff at Macalester Plymouth Preschool in 2014. She began in Room One and then joined the Room 2 staff in 2018. She became the Lead Teacher in Room 1 in 2024. She studied psychology and child development at the University of Minnesota and has been teaching preschool for six years.
She has worked with small children for as long as she can remember, from babysitting and nannying, to full time work in a day care setting. One of her proudest accomplishments was starting a successful program through Minneapolis Parks called Free to be Three, where she was the lead teacher for three years. She is a firm believer in play-based learning and loves helping children learn and grow.
Ms. Sarah lives in South Minneapolis, with her husband and two kids. In her free time she likes to be with her family, run along the gorgeous parkway and read. She also loves music and going to good live shows.
Ms. Pemly has been teaching at Macalester Plymouth since 2002. She embraces the learning through play curriculum and encourages all her students to use their creativity, adventure and intelligence to grow and expand their minds. She also believes that all children learn in different ways and at different times.
Ms. Pemly is married with two grown children (her youngest went to Macalester Plymouth!). She loves to travel and has been to many of the places she teaches about in Room Two. At home, she tends her fairy gardens and snuggles with her two cats and 1 puppy. She is passionate about the environment and lives in a tiny house with solar panels!
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
Ms. Britt
teacher, room 1
Ms. Madi
teacher, room 2
Ms. Britt was so happy to join the Room One crew! She has always found great joy spending time with children and saw the magic that happens at Macalester Plymouth Preschool when her middle child attended. She loves the excitement children have for learning and exploring the world around them and wants to do whatever she can to encourage that curiosity.
She has a BA in Psychology from Luther College and an MA in Applied Behavior Analysis (Psychology) from Western Michigan University. For more than 20 years she has worked in the field of developmental disabilities by helping families, caregivers, and their children develop healthy routines and learn new skills in their home environments.
Ms. Britt lives in St. Paul with her husband and three children (two of whom have attended our preschool). When not at preschool, she loves spending time with family and friends, getting outside for hiking, canoeing, gardening or skiing, and snuggling up with a mug of tea and a good book!
Ms. Madi has always loved teaching and spent most of her childhood thinking she was going to be a teacher just like her grandma, dad and mom. She constantly babysat as a teenager and was also a volunteer lead at the Minnesota Children’s Museum where she was awarded “volunteer of the year” in 2011. Initially she went to school for nutrition at the University of Minnesota. Although she still has a passion for food and nutrition, she is planning to go back to school to be a teacher.
When she’s not at preschool, she is usually hanging out with her many animals. Madi has cats, a dog, bearded dragon lizards, fish and frogs at home. She spends her free time being outside, taking hikes, cooking and gardening. She also loves art and her favorite thing to draw is animals!
Ms. Cati
assistant teacher
Ms. Cati is thrilled to join the staff at MPP this fall! After spending 10 years raising three kids, she is anxious to get back into a classroom and make some new small friends. Nurturing children through play has been a lifelong passion of hers; she even met her husband when they ran an Early Childhood summer program together! Cati believes in the magic of childhood, and considers it an honor to help students explore the world and grow into beautiful, unique individuals. All of her children have been Mac-P students.
Cati grew up in a log cabin in Southern Indiana, and now lives with her family and 2 cats in Saint Anthony Park. She has a B.A. in Writing Children’s Books from Indiana University. She is an avid reader, crafter and gardener.
