Room 2

Pre-K, for 4- and 5-year-olds (as of 9/1)

Exploring the world

In Room 2, we explore our wide, wonderful world by dancing to all kinds of music, painting in Europe, running the Iditarod in Alaska, visiting the rainforests of Costa Rica and the Amazon, picnicking at the Cherry Blossom Festivals in Japan, and relaxing on the Beaches of Jamaica.  We take care of the planet and show our “True Colors” by doing things the way our hearts tell us to, and so much more!

Here your children will gain an awareness of global diversity — that no matter what we look like or where we come from, we all laugh, sit on grandma’s lap, and play games.

Learning to care for each other and our planet

Songs from many cultures, a variety of art forms, and books from around the world are a large part of our journey.

We teach that kindness and cooperation are important virtues in the classroom and for the rest of their life.

We venture out on the Macalester College campus for walks to see the painted rock, exploring the first signs of each season, and hunting for colors in nature. We utilize our side yard to play with bubbles, draw with chalk, run under the parachute, sled and play in the snow in the winter.

Our philosophy and focus remains on learning through play, and we encourage kids to follow their curiosities and ask questions as we aid them in learning about their interests.

Your children learn to be global citizens and stewards of the earth; they learn to recycle, compost, and, above all, take care of each other and our planet.
